2018 Animal Science Pre-Conference Tour

Thursday, July 26
If you are flying to Tennessee, please fly into Memphis, if possible. Then fly home from Chattanooga.
Please notify Jerry Brown gdbrown@uky.edu if you need transportation from Chattanooga to Memphis. We will have one van available for Chattanooga to Memphis that will depart from Chattanooga at 12:00 noon EDT.
Participants should plan to arrive at the hotel in Memphis, TN by 6:00 pm CDT

Friday, July 27
The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast.
Tour stops for Friday, July 27th include the following:
1. Ames Plantation in Grand Junction, TN, including cattle, horses, forestry, wildlife, hunting/recreation, and history of the plantation (www.amesplantation.org/)
2. Cottage Farms Genetics in Jackson, TN, a custom semen collection facility (www.cottagefarmgenetics.com/)
3. Tosh Farms in Henry, TN, an integrated pork and row-crop producer (www.toshfarms.net/)
Following completion of Friday’s tour stops, the group will travel to the hotel in Clarksville, TN to stay the night.

Saturday, July 28

Tour stops for Saturday, July 28th include the following:
1. Robert Elliott & Sons Angus in Adams, TN, an Angus seedstock cattle and tobacco producer that previously served as the President of the American Angus Association (www.robertelliottandsonsfarm.com/)
2. Columbia Livestock Center and Tennessee Livestock Producers, Inc. in Columbia, TN, is the marketing affiliate of the Tennessee Farm Bureau and continues in its purpose to help maintain a competitive bid for livestock throughout the state. (www.tennesseelivestockproducers.com)
3. Burns Farms in Pikeville, TN, a producer of Hereford seedstock cattle and freezer beef (www.burnsfarms.com/)
4. Sweetwater Valley Farm in Philadelphia, TN, an integrated dairy and cheese producer (www.sweetwatervalley.com/)
Following conclusion of the tour and dinner at Sweetwater Valley Farm, the group will be transported to their final destination hotel in Chattanooga, TN.
