The MP557: Forage Herbicide Quick Reference Guide was produced in response to feedback from local agriculture advisory groups, forage producers, and area herbicide dealers. Those producers and industry clientele are the primary audience for this publication. It also serves as reference for county agents. Annually, the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service produces a large, 200-page herbicide recommendation publication (MP44). However, only a short section of that document pertains to forage producers. The purpose of producing this publication was to condense much of that information into a single page, more user-friendly publication. The guide isn't inclusive of every herbicide labeled for pasture weed control. Instead, it includes the most effective products available for common weed problems in forages in Arkansas. It can serve as a handout at forage related meetings or field days. Additionally, it was provided to area herbicide dealers to serve as a countertop handout for customers to pick up. For distribution, all 75 counties in Arkansas initially receive two file copies. Over 350 copies were initially printed for the authors to distribute. The publication has been added to the University of Arkansas publication list and is available to be viewed and printed online or professionally printed copies ordered by the public. Number of online views and cliented printed copies are unknown. Once completed, the publication was also shared to the Baxter County Facebook page and has a reach of over 1,500 persons, to date. The post has since been shared by several other county pages and individuals.
