The I-29 Moo University represents a collaboration of 5 states’ University Extension personnel and representatives from the dairy industry with complementary expertise and knowledge of dairy production and management in the region. The I-29 Moo University is in its 15th year of collaboration. One of the many efforts of the group is a monthly newsletter.
The purpose of the newsletter is to provide timely, relevant information on hot topics and upcoming events to our subscribers. Because the collaboration covers such a large geographical area, an electronically-distributed newsletter is an efficient way to reach the audience.
The target audience is dairy producers and dairy industry professionals in the 5-state area and beyond. The newsletter is distributed via email to 410 individuals and is also available on our website and through various social media pages. The newsletter is composed by updating the calendar of events, sending out an open call to our Extension contributors for articles and event announcements, and inputting the content into the online newsletter platform, hosted by Smore.
The attached newsletters are from July 2019 and January 2020. They represent the breadth of topics and events regularly covered in the newsletter. For the past year, the newsletter has also included mental health resources for farmers in all five states as well as national resources. We believe in providing support and education in many forms for our audience.
