Newsletter

The Pike County ANR Report is written and distributed monthly by the Pike County Agent as an e-newsletter to a listserv containing over 180 emails. Articles are either written by the agent or edited from existing, timely UGA publications. Later editions of the publication feature articles writen or edited by the Pike County Extension intern as a part of their internship responsibilities. The e-newsletter aims to serve the Pike County community as a whole; this includes homeowners, parents, producers, and the board of commissioners. The publication educates this broad audience by providing relevant articles for the corresponding month, upcoming programs both in Pike County, Georgia and surrounding counties, and retrospective articles to encourage future involvement. Additionally, print versions of the publication are available in the Extension office for walk-in clients and at each Pike County Extension program. Furthermore, this publication is presented to the Pike County Board of Commissioners each month as an example of the work being accomplished by the Pike County Extension Agent. Though the distribution is not extensive, the quality of recipients is high as each email address has been added following a face-to-face interaction in which clients have requested to receive the publication since its inception in February 2019. Ultimately, the e-newsletter allows for an informal means of communicating agriculture and natural resources information to the community.
