Audio Recording

The sugarbeet report is a recorded radio program that provides timely information on a weekly basis, from early April to early September, to sugarbeet producers and allied industry representatives in North Dakota and Minnesota. The program is organized by the Extension Sugarbeet Specialist as part of North Dakota State University (NDSU) and University of Minnesota (UM) Sugarbeet Extension Program. The Extension Specialist contributed 30% of the reports. The objective of the program is to provide industry updates, reminders of best management practices for specific time periods, and real time advisories and research based recommendations that will help producers and suppliers in their decision making to prevent and or manage pest outbreaks. The speakers include NDSU and UM Extension Specialists and experts in different subject areas and from different locations in the bi-states. Recordings are done on a weekly basis and the topics coincide with the production practices or updates pertaining to the crop growth status. Speakers address specific topics, and are concise and relevant in a three to five minute presentation done as a question and answer format. The recordings are done at NDSU, edited and made available to the public every Thursday from late April to early September. The reports air Fridays at 6:25 a.m. on KBRF AM 1250 and 6:40 a.m. on KJJK FM 96.5; Fridays at 7:30 a.m. on KFGO; and Fridays and Mondays on KQLX/890AM and Thunder 106.1 during the sugarbeet growing season. The radio stations are the major ones in the sugarbeet production areas and have a listenership of over 80,000 which includes most sugarbeet producers.
